Health Checkup Camp 28.07.2018

Jan Shikshan Sansthan,Shimoga in Association with Sahyadri Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Shimoga jointly organized free Health Checkup camp at PES Campus, Shimoga on 28.07.2018

The objective of the health checkup camp was to provide information regarding Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, diet, exercise and weight control. During this health camps, a team of Sahyadri Narayana Hospital doctors conducted general blood tests for Cholesterol, Body check up, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar Random, ECG, and Creatine.

In this camp, conducted health checkup up to 100 members. The staff and beneficiaries of JSS, residents of Malligenahalli, Srirampura village are take benefits from this camp.

Exhibition on Swachhata Pakhawada

Jana Shikshan Sansthan Shimoga, in association with Prerana Educational & Social Trust, Swamy Vivekananda Vidya Samsthe, Have jointly organized Swachhata Pakhawada Exhibition
To spread awareness on Swachhata Abhiyana among the students, public, parents at different level Swachhata Pakhawada Exhibition was organized on 28/07/2018 Saturday at PES public school campus, Shimoga. The PRogramme was inaugurated by Prof Nanjayya,The principal of DIET, Shiavamogga, Smt S.Y ArunaDevi, Director of Jana Shiskshana Samstana Shimoga was the chief Guest.
The objective of this exhibition is to spread a great knowledge about Swachha Bharat Abhiyan. Posters , Paintings, Slogans and Essay writings of students of various schools of Shimogga exhibited on this Exhibition. This exhibition attracted large number of students from different schools of shimogga mainly Giridepam High School, Govt Primary School SriramPura, Govt Primary school Gadikoppa, PES public school witness the exihibition and sought the benefits. This exhibition has conveyed the role and responsibilities of every citizen to exhibit the country in international standard.

Jan Shikshan Sansthan,Shimoga in Association with Family Planning Association of India and Mythri College of Nursing, Shimoga conducted Door to Door Survey on Sanitory Pad at Matturu Village on 26/07/2018.

Awareness on Sanitory pad talk conducted by Dr. Ananya, Medical Officer Mathuru. In the presence of Sri. Guru, Health Inspector, Primary Health Centre, Mathuru, Sri. Venkatesh Murthy Health Inspector, Primary Health Centre, Mathuru, and Mr. Mallikarjuna.S, HOD of Community Health Nursing Dept. Mythri College of Nursing.

The Objective of the programme is to Promote Menstrual Hygiene in Rural Areas by use of Sanitory pad and removes problem related to the issue of menstrual health among the women of rural areas.

50 Students of Mythri College of Nursing conducted Door to Door survey in huge beneficiaries of JSS living in Mattur village,
Mr. Mallikarjuna.S, HOD of Community Health Nursing Dept. Mythri College of Nursing given a health talk about awareness on Dengue and Malaria.

Energy saving drive-Save Electricity, Paperless Day & No Plastic Day on 25.07.2018

Jana shikshana sansthan, Shimoga, Prerana educational and Social Trust, Shivamogga, jointly organised a program on “Energy save drive- Save Elecricity, Paper less Day and No Plastic day” as a part of “Swachchta Pakhwada” initiative on 25.07.2018. The program was conducted at Govt. Pre University college campus Near Meenakshi Bhavan Shimoga.
Smt. Susheela, Principal, Government Pre University College, asked to save energy wherever possible, especially electricity. Use natural light and air during day time and also try to utilize renewable resources of energy. Emphasized the use of computer and internet, for mailing, banking etc., to reduce the use of paper, because trees have been cut to produce paper. She also called the students to say no to use of plastic citing the ill effects to the society and environment. Dr. Basavarajappa Y.H. Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering PESITM explained the technical details of renewable energy resources. He also brought out the ill effects of over usage of paper and plastic. Asked the students to observe a paperless day and No Plastic day in order to protect the environment.
Mr. Ashok R. Banagar and Mr. Ajey C.P. showed some videos explaining how to save energy, especially electricity. They also showed videos on how one can reduce the use of paper by going cashless on shopping malls, online banking etc. and there were also videos about how to get rid of plastic use to save our environment.
Around 100 students from the Government Pre University College, Meenakshi Bhavan, Shimoga participated in this event. Smt. Susheela, Principal, Government Pre University College, Shimoga, Mrs. Sumana, Programme Officer, JSS, Smt Shobha, Assistant Programme
officer, JSS were present on this occasion.

Competition on Cotton Bag stitching on 25.07.2018

Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Shimoga organized competition on Cotton bag stitching on 25.07.2018 for Successful beneficiaries of different areas at JSS premises. “Spreading and encouraging eco-friendly knowledge” is the motto of this competition.
Invited two beneficiaries from each area in Shimoga and Shimoga Rural. Around 40 members participated in this programme. Among them 3 best cotton bag maker, stitched within 30 minutes were selected as the winners.
In JSS Shimoga has made it in words and deeds to not to use any kind of plastic bags, not only in the premises but also in various places outside Shimoga while conducting its programmes. All the trainees and beneficiaries are strictly directed to not to use any kind of plastic bags to promote the Slogan-“Say No to Plastic Bags, Use only Cotton Bags”. This strong initiative has transformed the trainees and beneficiaries of JSS into eco-friendly individuals as well as ambassadors of JSS, Shimoga where ever they go or represent us.
The evaluation was done by Smt M.Sumana, Programme officer, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Shimoga. Bag stitching competitions were initiated by Smt Shobha Assistant Programme officer, JSS and Smt Safiya, Resource Person, JSS,Shimoga.

Street Play Conducted on 25th and 26th July 2018

A creative street play enacted by the beneficiaries of JSS and students of Govt High School and directed by a budding artist Sri Nagaraj Neel, Karnataka State Best Actor Awardee of 2014, highlighting the importance of cleanliness among the public and promoting the concept of awareness about harmful effects of smoking and open defecation.

The street play focused on the attitude of the public who dumped solid wastes and dust on their neighbourhood and the ensuing quarrel in the locality. The play also brought out how some men in the villages are reluctant to use latrines at home but prefer to use open land for defecation and thereby cause inconvenience and embarrassment to the women folk at home.

The play conveyed the idea loud and clear that open defecation not only pollutes the atmosphere but is also is the root cause of many diseases.

The play also brought out the message that the central government in order to put an end to open defecation is giving financial aid to the needy to get a latrine constructed in their house.

Prize distribution Programme – 21/07/2018

In view of Swachhata Pakhwada fortnight, 2018 an initiative of the, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Shimoga, created under the Ministry of Skill development and Entrepreneurship, Govt of India, successfully conducted drawing, slogan writing, placard writing and poster making competitions conveying the concept of cleanliness among the students. About 40 students each in three competitions from Government Polytechnic College, Prerana School and Government Durgigudi high school participated in the competitions and won prizes. The prize distribution ceremony was held on 21-07-2018 at PES campus.

Sri.V. Devendra, noted Educationalist, 82 years old and experienced and Secretary of Jnanadeepa Educational Trust who was one of the chief guests on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of the JSS staff, beneficiaries of JSS and JSS staff who participated in the competitions.

Dr. H S Nagraja, noted Educationalist, Columnist and Founder of BASE Bangalore, who was another chief guest while distributing prizes and certificates to the winners, encouraged the students to participate more in such activities in future as it develops self confidence, satisfaction and self esteem.

Smt. S.Y Aruanadevi, Director of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Shimoga, Ex Exe3cutive committee member, NLMA, New Delhi welcomed the chief guests and explained the concept of Swachhata Pakhwada and how both formal and informal agencies work hand in hand in conducting this campaign.

Tree Planting at Shikaripura – 20.07.2018

Jan Shikshan Sanshan, Shimoga, in association with Swamy Vivekananda Vidya Samsthe, Shikaripur and Kumudwathi School, Shikaripur have jointly organized Tree Planting programme at Shikaripur on 20.07.2018.

Tree Planting Programme was inaugurated by Sri B.S. Yediyurappa, Founder Chairman, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Shimoga and Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly in the form of planting the sapling at Kumudwathi campus. He addressed the students and beneficiaries of JSS about swachhta Pakhwad Programme (Skill se Sampurna Swachhta Camp from 16th to 31st July 2018) on need of cleanliness and hygiene in our surrounding, keep our health disease free.

In this Programme Prof Nandihal, Karnataka Janapada University, Dharwar was the expert Speaker. Health Camp was presided by Dr. Ananya, Medical Officer Mathuru. In the presence of Sri. Guru, Health Inspector, Primary Health Centre, Mathuru, Sri. Venkatesh Murthy Health Inspector, Primary Health Centre, Mathuru, Smt. B. Chandri Bai, Headmistress, Govt. High School, Kadekal and Mrs. Shruthi.N, Principal, Mythri College & School of Nursing, Shivamogga. Sri. K.G. Shivappa, Physical Educator and Mr. Mallikarjuna.S, HOD of Community Health Nursing Dept. Mythri College of Nursing.
50 Students of Mythri College of Nursing conducted Health Check up to 150 students of Govt. High School and residents of Siddarahalli village by identifying the blood group and Body Mass Index.

Placard and Drawing competition on 20.07.2018 under Swachhta Pakhwada

We are pleased to inform that, Jan Shikshan Sansthan Shimoga Government Polytechnic College have jointly organized Swachhta Pakhwada under which “A placard competition and Drawing competition” under the theme on Social Environmental Awareness on 20th July 2018 at Govt polytechnic campus.
Around 40 students have participated in placard and drawing competition. Smt.S.Y.Aruna Devi, Director, JSS, Shimoga and Ex-Executive committee member, NLMA, New Delhi addressed the gathering and monitored the event.
Mr.Vijeth S Art and Craft teacher and State awardee, Shimoga and Prof Shrikant N Patil Principal PES Polytechnic were judges of this competition.
The following students were declared winners in drawing competation.
